About

Melanie - Award Winning Nail Artist

Hi welcome to Simply Gorgeous Beauty in Allestree

I opened the doors to SGB the day after I qualified as a level 3 beauty therapist. Here, many years later, my little business has expanded from 1 room to 9, and now a training academy! I'm also an award-winning salon owner, award-winning nail technician and now a semi-permanent brow artist!!

It's hard work but I love every minute. I try to provide a relaxed, professional, friendly environment where you can all feel at home and comfortable and I ensure the treatments you receive are the very best and the service you receive is like no other. We have a very relaxed manner in salon. Like a home from home. We want you to really look forward to coming to see us.

I'm very proud of all my girls within the salon, they work so hard and love treating you all. They constantly strive to give you the best they have in them. This has seen us win countless awards for our salon, which we are all very proud of.

What does the future hold? Well, I think we have done all we can at our Allestree salon so who knows, SGB 2 perhaps!!!??? …… we will be entering as many awards as possible this year to show off our new decor and new treatments!!

Nothing is too much trouble here and whatever we can do to make your time here a gorgeous one, just ask!

I now personally concentrate on the running the salon. however, I keep my hand in creating visually stunning, sometimes outrageous nail art for my clients and am continually striving to educate myself by attending various courses and 1-2-1 training throughout the UK! To see some of our work, take a look at our gallery and have a read of the blog for inspiration and insight into salon life!

I will now be concentrating on the training side of the business and my new-found love for semi-permanent microblading.

I very much look forward to seeing you in the salon very soon for a welcoming drink, a big smile, a good laugh, a debate, a moan, or a hug if required!! come and see what everyone raves about, I promise you won’t go anywhere else

Alice - Beauty Therapist

About our therapist Alice

I'm Alice Nixon, the Salon Manager here at Simply Gorgeous Beauty. I have been employed by Melanie for just over 5 years now.

I am Level 3 qualified in Beauty Therapy and also have gained more qualifications along the journey of being part of the salon. I am the LVL technician here at SGB as well as performing Semi-Permanent lashes and Express Lashes and love the transformation they give! Elemis Deep Tissue Body Massage and Treatments are also part of the long treatment list I carry out in the salon.

I love working here at SGB its more of a hobby for me than a job, meeting lovely clients every day and being able to enjoy what I do and make every person who walks through the door feel amazing is very rewarding.

Beauty is very important to me and I wish to stay within the salon for a long time and progress onto bigger things to make the best professional I can be.
Natalya - Beauty Therapist

About our therapist Natalya

Hello, this is just a little bit about me and why I do the job I do.

I've always been interested in the beauty industry, my mum use to take me to her appointments from the age of 12 so I've always been familiar with it and it's since then I knew I wanted to do beauty as my job when I grew up.

I finished school with the grades I had worked hard for knowing I needed them for college I started in the September 2011.

As I lacked a lot of confidence they put me in a introduction course where I did basic beauty and basic hair which meant I wouldn't work on clients straight away just my class friends. (which I thought was annoying at the time but looking back I wouldn't of been able to hold a conversation with clients as I was way to shy!)

Turns out I picked it up so easy and my confidence literally came over night, as a result I managed to fly through the course and had completed it by the March with distinctions throughout! So then they started putting me in the level 2 class where I was picking things up quite easy and by the September I knew everything and started straight on to my exams, which again meant I was ahead and again finished the course in the April again with distinctions. So as before they put me into the level 3 class where again I was learning everything quickly and by September I had gone straight onto exams. I finished the course in April 2014 with distinctions again, I fell very lucky as Mel had offered me a job so I finished college on the Tuesday and started at Simply Gorgeous on the Thursday! And I'm still here three years later loving it more than ever. I can happily say I'm one of those lucky people who loves my job and doesn't bat a eyelid about getting up and going to work!

My favourite treatment is facials I love the calm relaxing vibe you get and it satisfies me knowing I've relaxed a client and they've nodded off on the warm cosy bed.

I hope to see you all at some point in the salon.
Lots of love Tals x

About our therapist Daisy

Hi I'm Daisy Holmes, I joined SGB in September 2016. I'm level 3 qualified in Beauty therapy after studying at derby college for a year doing level 2, I then went on to be a mobile beauty therapist which then lead me to do a level 3 apprenticeship through a salon and East Midlands beauty college.

I've then gone on to do more qualifications so I can offer more treatments to clients such as intimate waxing which I am the only therapist at the moment who does this treatment, also being able to provide LVL lashes, semi permanent lash extensions, and spray tanning and Hopi ear candles which I've loved learning!

I feel that beauty is more of a hobby now than a job because I enjoy it so much and not many people can say that they love there job, it makes it easier to get up for work knowing you're going to make people happy, it's nice to know clients come to you to make them feel good about themselves and for them to be happy enough to keep returning, it makes it a very rewarding job and I'm glad to be here at Simply Gorgeous Beauty and I think we make a great team.

The most common question I get is 'what is your favourite treatment to do?' My answer is that I don't have a favourite treatment , I enjoy doing all of them because you know your clients going out feeling or looking different to when they came in and it's nice to know your works done that to them!

Lots of love Daisy

About Jane

Hi there

My name is Jane, known to many as Aunty Jane, and I have been with the Simply Gorgeous team since June 2014. I have worked in various administration roles, both within large companies and registered charities since I left school (don’t even ask what year that was!), and it is with this experience that I am able to support Melanie and her therapists within the salon.

Initially, my role involved helping out on reception and within the shop area, looking after our clients and assisting with the general housekeeping within the salon. Over the last year, as the Simply Gorgeous name has grown and branched out in different directions, I have taken on a more administrative role which involves book-keeping, HR, general office duties and supporting Melanie with business development - although on some days you may still find me “front of house”!

Personally, I take great interest in good nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle, ensuring that I practice yoga regularly, go walking, lovingly tend to my garden and indulge myself in as many relaxing, stress-relieving treatments at Simply Gorgeous Beauty as I possibly can!
